Gills Creek Watershed Association

A nonprofit organization

The GCWA protects the Gills Creek Watershed through conservation, advocacy, restoration, and education.

Our vision is of a vibrant, restored Gills Creek that is protected, valued, and enjoyed by all communities. Many of the challenges come from storm water runoff from parking lots, roads, and driveways. This carries litter, chemical pollutants, and bacteria - such as E. coli - into nearby streams and lakes. Hard, impervious surfaces also increase erosion around them, which degrades creek health and wildlife habitats and can increase flooding in downstream areas. Our programs focus on restoration of selected sites in the Gills Creek watershed, education of the public on how they can have a positive impact, and engagement with local governments to encourage actions that will protect and restore the Gills Creek watershed.

Testimonials

We educate residents through public speaking engagements, Watershed Walks, social media posts, monthly newsletters, and programs for school children. Our new Watershed Champion program encourages residents to participate in watershed restoration through simple actions they can take in their own yards.
