Friends of Goodale State Park

A nonprofit organization

The Friends of Goodale State Park group is a 501(c)(3) non-profit established to preserve, promote, and enhance Goodale State Park and its amenities in a way that preserves its natural beauty and ecological balance and to enhance the recreational experience for current and future generations.

In a very short time, the Friends of Goodale State Park group has provided funding for a wonderful playground, as well as a state of the art kayak dock and launch pad. We have hosted stargazing and photography events, 2 clean up days where required debris on the lake's dam was cleaned off, and a festive Cookies with Santa afternoon. We currently have plans underway for a Family Fun Day, bird watching event, Nature's Teacher educational day, a new picnic pad and much needed replacement doors for the community building. We also are working to provide additional kayaks and canoes and to expand the nature trails.

Testimonials

Goodale State Park is a hidden gem in Kershaw County that is rich in history. The 763 acre park is home to a Civil War-era mill pond after all. Many locals recall stories of long summer days swimming and enjoying time with friends and family back in the day. Although swimming is no longer allowed, the 140 acre lake is still a main attraction at the park.
