Community Literacy Lab Microschool

In Sumter, many learners struggle silently. They fall behind in reading, lose confidence, or begin to believe they are not capable. Not because they lack potential—but because they need more time, more support, and a place where they feel safe to grow.

At Community Literacy Lab Microschool, we created the Social Discovery Lounge to be that place.

The Lounge is a welcoming, supportive space where learners take ownership of their education through self-directed learning. Here, learners choose books that interest them, build literacy skills at their own pace, explore creative projects, and collaborate with peers. They are not rushed. They are not left behind. They are supported as individuals.

We see learners transform every day. Learners who once avoided reading begin picking up books on their own. Learners who lacked confidence begin helping others. They begin to see themselves differently—not as struggling students, but as capable learners with a future full of opportunity.
