Chapin Beautification

A nonprofit organization

Chapin Beautification Foundation is committed to promoting beautification in the Chapin area through the planting and protection of trees, new green space, new landscaping and new hardscape projects .

Since organizing in the spring of 2016, the Chapin Beautification has planted sequoias in the Chapin Business and Technology Park at Brighton, and replaced the Sango Kaku Japanese maple tree in the Garden at Chapin Town Hall. We have also planted many trees along Chapin and Amick's Ferry Road and we recently re-landscaped the Chapin Town Square. We have many new green space projects planned for the future.

From an advocacy standpoint, Chapin Beautification led efforts to ensure the safety of the magnificent red oak located by Smith Constructors and Engineers at 246 Columbia Avenue. This tree was identified as a Treasured Tree of the Midlands in 2016, but it was potentially in danger of being taken down as part of the creation of a new roadway off Columbia Avenue to alleviate traffic in Chapin. Thanks to a number of meetings with representatives from Mead & Hunt, Lexington County and SCDOT, the plan has been modified to prevent Mr. Smith's business and the tree from being torn down.

Testimonials

Thanks to the support received as part of Midlands Gives, the Chapin Beautification Foundation has been able to continue preserving greenspace in downtown Chapin. We appreciate our generous donors and remain committed to enhancing the appearance of Chapin's public spaces through planting and protection of trees.
