Brain Injury Association of South Carolina

A nonprofit organization

The Brain Injury Association of SC's mission is to create a better future through brain injury prevention, research, education, and advocacy.

The Brain Injury Association of South Carolina (BIASC) is a lifeline for brain injury survivors, families, and professionals across the state. Through bold advocacy efforts, BIASC pushes for critical legislation to expand access to care and support. Our programs tackle resource gaps by offering veteran-focused outreach, therapeutic yoga and art classes, and expert-led trainings that empower survivors and caregivers. In FY25, BIASC provided 60 trainings to over 1,000 participants, 11 peer support groups, and hosted a statewide conference with 228 attendees. We expanded awareness through safety initiatives, public education, and direct assistance, distributing 275 resource kits and addressing 372 requests for resources, referrals, and other support through the website and help line.

BIASC serves as the "voice" of brain injury in South Carolina, representing the community on state committees and task forces, including the SC Brain Injury Leadership Council, which helps shape policy under state and federal mandates. With every initiative, BIASC strengthens the brain injury community, ensuring no one faces this journey alone.

Testimonials

TBI dramatically changed my daughter's life, and my husband and I were thrust into caregiving roles. BIASC has provided us with the support and resources we need to navigate this journey.

This session was incredibly touching and eye-opening. His story gave me valuable insights as I continue to learn about BI, especially as someone new to advocacy in this space.
