American Cancer Society - Midlands Chapter

A nonprofit organization

Improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support, to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.

The American Cancer Society's mission is to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer. In short, we fund and conduct research, share evidence-based information, support patients and caregivers, and spread the word about cancer prevention and early detection. Ensuring that ALL people-regardless of income, skin color, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability status, or where they live-have a fair and just opportunity to live a longer, healthier life free from cancer.

Since 1913, the ACS has led local and nationwide efforts to address the burden of cancer in our communities. From encouraging and providing free access to cancer screenings, helping patients access services such as free rides to treatment, free lodging near hospitals, and a 24/7 cancer helpline to fostering cutting-edge research and breakthroughs to advocating on behalf of cancer patients - the American Cancer Society is leading the fight.

Testimonials

"The American Cancer Society offered empathy and solutions and exceeded my expectations. I feel like God put me on the phone so that I could have an angel for the day. After a rough day of crying and worrying over insurance coverage problems that could hinder my cancer treatment, I could finally settle down and have dinner in happiness after the cancer information specialist's sympathetic conduct. The staff made a major impact on my life tonight. I went from crying and panic to I'm OK."
