The African American Philanthropy Committee at Central Carolina Community Foundation works to uplift and expand philanthropy across the Midlands—building on a long tradition of generosity, mutual aid, and community leadership. Established in 2019, the committee brings together business and community leaders committed to redefining the philanthropic narrative in our community by educating donors of all races on ways to invest in the Black community and strengthening organizations that serve Black communities.

The central focus of the committee’s work is strengthening the sustainability and long-term impact of organizations that have traditionally been underserved by philanthropy. Members serve as a grant review committee, thoughtfully directing charitable dollars to organizations that are deeply rooted in and responsive to community needs. They prioritize leadership and professional development—supporting opportunities that help nonprofit professionals and organizations build capacity, deepen expertise, and expand their reach. The committee celebrates generosity and encourages broader participation in giving through Black Philanthropy Month and other community giving initiatives.
