Our son, Quinn, was born with syndactyly polydactyly (webbed digits and extra digits) as well as a very rare congenital anomaly called macrodactyly. His particular case of macrodactyly affected his great and second toe on his left foot--causing an enormous overgrowth of bones and soft tissue. After meeting with a couple different pediatric orthopedic surgeons, we decided to amputate those two toes when Quinn got a little older. However, as the year went on, the soft tissue growth throughout his entire left foot continued to get worse. After a lengthy discussion with Quinn's surgeon and a prosthetics team, the decision was made 5 days before his surgery to amputate most of his left foot rather than just the two large toes. While it was a grueling decision, we knew it was the best one for Quinn.

In February 2025, right after Quinn's 1st birthday, he had surgery to remove the webbing between two of his fingers on his left hand and amputate the majority of his left foot. We will never forget that day. It was physically and emotionally exhausting for all of us. One of the bright spots of that difficult day, however, was the sweet toy Quinn received from Happy Wheels. That simple gift from Happy Wheels provided joy on one of our hardest days!

Quinn is now a thriving two year old who loves cars, playdoh, and being outside. And he still has his toy from Happy Wheels in the car to entertain him on trips!

We would love for you to join us in supporting this amazing local organization that brings smiles and joy to children and their families on some of their darkest days.

One day, each week throughout the year, Happy Wheels volunteers make rounds to each inpatient room with a decorated surgical cart filled with brand new books and toys. Happy Wheels visits approximately 400 children weekly at all 3 children's hospitals in South Carolina. Each child gets to pick out one toy/book of their choice every week for the duration of their admission. They get to keep the gifts and take them home!
