I can remember the first time I saw an image of someone giving hugs at a Pride event. It was a millisecond journey from "that's so nice" to "there are parents who disown their kids because they're gay or trans?!" 

Six years later, I am involved in Free Mom Hugs at the local, state and national level. Our nonprofit has more than 250 area groups around the country that work all year long to empower the world to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community through visibility, education and conversation. Our Midlands group is a force to be reckoned with showing up at everything from Safe Space Dinners to the Russell House at USC to Drag Shows and anywhere else willing to welcome us.

A donation to Free Mom Hugs will help us host public education events, attend Pride events, support LGBTQIA+ orgs and their events throughout the Midlands. Please support our work today!
