Project Life: Positeen, Inc.

To Provide a diverse afterschool program of tutorial services, character building and cultural exposure for at-risk youth needing remediation and enrichment to improve academic performance, and those in need of services to improve positive attitudes and acceptable behavior. We believe that all children can learn.

Project Life Positeen is a 501c (3) non-profit tutorial service program offering help to young people to become productive citizens in a global society. We tutor/mentor students in K5-12th grade. We have fifteen (15) part-time mostly retired teachers. Our graduates attend colleges/universities or technical college. We are in our twenty-eight (28) year of service to the Orangeburg, Calhoun, and Bamberg Counties. We are a year round tutorial service learning program. We believe that early learning insures equal opportunity for all students. Our parents are committed to see that their children are being provided with a great academic program that allows them to participate in extra curriculum activities as well as field trips. Most of our parents have a high school education and are unable to help their children with their homework. By sending students to college we have a graduate rate of ten (10) percent. Discipline is a huge part of our success rate. Forty percent of our students are honor roll or Presidental Scholars.

Our graduating seniors are going on to college and one of the best stories is Akeem Bonaparte that graduated and is now the Senior Advisor for the Athletic Department at Claflin University. We are very proud to talk about his status and where he came from in his life time. There are many stories that we will be able to highlight from our program.
