KB's Fundraiser for Kinship Caregivers

I think of kinship care like a garden.

A child is like a young plant. Usually, their parent is the one caring for them. But sometimes that gardener can’t meet their needs.

Kinship care is like moving that plant into a nearby garden with someone familiar, like a grandparent, aunt, or older sibling. This intentional practice helps ensure the child is placed in an environment that is a part of their existing ecosystem :he soil, the surroundings, even the care are more familiar. The new caregiver already has an established connection with the child because while the garden may be different, the community is the same. 

That’s what kinship care does. It keeps kids connected to their roots while making sure they’re cared for.

Kindred Hearts SC does the necessary work of providing resources, education, advocacy, and support for folks who have assumed the sacred responsibility of caring for young people and helping them thrive. I support Kindred Hearts because I support caregivers, and I believe in the integrity, wisdom, and impact their work has.
