I want to take a moment to talk about something deeply important, something that is quietly shaping the lives of thousands of children right now: kinship care.

Kinship care is what happens when a child, for reasons beyond their control, cannot remain with their parents—and a grandparent, aunt, uncle, older sibling, or close family friend steps in to raise them. It’s an act of love. It’s an act of sacrifice. And often, it’s an act taken without warning.

These caregivers don’t hesitate to step up. But too often, they do so without the financial resources, emotional support, or community backing they truly need.

That’s where we come in.

As a board member of Kindred hearts of SC, I have seen firsthand the impact that support can make. When we invest in kinship families, we are not just helping caregivers, we are stabilizing homes, preserving family bonds, and giving children a sense of belonging during uncertain times.

Your support helps provide essential resources like food assistance, school supplies, counseling services, and access to healthcare. It helps ensure that these children don’t just survive—but thrive.

But we cannot do this alone.
