Jack was born at MUSC in 2011 with a congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome, where the right side of his heart did not develop properly. Jack had his first open heart surgery at five days old, has had three more since, multiple heart caths, and numerous extended hospital stays. Each surgery and hospitalization has had its highs and lows but we are so fortunate that our sweet boy is happy, doing well and will be 15 in June! One of the high points of his stays at MUSC have been the visits from the Happy Wheels cart! As a baby he received precious books and toys, and now that he's older he loves to pick his own toys from the cart! Seeing your child smile and play while going through so much is something we cherish! We are so grateful for Happy Wheels!

Please give to Happy Wheels if you can! I promise you will be making a child smile with your donation!

One day, each week throughout the year, Happy Wheels volunteers make rounds to each inpatient room with a decorated surgical cart filled with brand new books and toys. Happy Wheels visits approximately 400 children weekly at all 3 children's hospitals in South Carolina. Each child gets to pick out one toy/book of their choice every week for the duration of their admission. They get to keep the gifts and take them home!
