Two words that describe the revolution of photography in the digital age. The mechanics of photography is everywhere - in our cell phones, in our cars, on our streets, in our digital cameras - all the time, creating images of family life, the roadway to the market place and importantly, to events that shape our democracy.

There is good reason that PhotoSC’s mission is “dedicated to the exploration of photography and the ever-changing landscape of image making and visual culture.” Understanding how our society, our culture, our government, our lives are captured in an algorithm of ones and zeros or still, in an analog part of a chemical equation, is a deep dive into the photographic canon that celebrates 200 years since its invention in France this September.

Photography is every person’s art. It is a democratic medium that reflect the vision and voice of the person behind the lens.

Beyond the many photographic exhibitions and the Eye2Eye classes for teens there is a deep passion for the medium and the art of photography.
