Kellen Loves Happy Wheels!

Kellen’s story. 

On July 3rd, we noticed his face and eyes were puffy. We also noticed some icy blue veins on his chest so we got him in to see the pediatrician who sent us to the ER. We thought he might have had an allergic reaction. 

After review of a chest x-ray, they found a huge mass in his lungs to be later diagnosed the following week as a rare form of cancer, called T-cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. Our whole world suddenly went dark. We were welcomed into a world we never asked to be invited into. It was a blur of information overload, chemo treatments, googling side effect management, spending weeks in the hospital, waves of every emotion, at all times. It felt like I was crying all day, every day. 

Fast forward 9 months...our son is cancer-free and we’ve adjusted to our new norm. Along the way, we have been supported by such an incredible team of nurses and doctors, meeting new families who are also walking this walk beside us and have been welcomed with open arms by several helpful organizations. Happy Wheels is one of them.

I knew I wanted to use my platform and voice to get the word out about what donations ACTUALLY make a difference along the way and Happy Wheels is one of them. The first time the Happy Wheels toy cart stopped by Kellen’s hospital room, I cried again--but this time it was happy tears. 

The Happy Wheels toy cart that gets wheeled around the hospital every Tuesday matters. It is brimming with brand new toys. Kellen gets to choose one every week to keep and take home! To think of all the smiling faces of these kiddos who are otherwise scared or sad to be in the hospital, I quickly knew I wanted to help!
