They Brought Kaylin Joy — Now Let’s Do It for Others

In 2016, our lives changed forever.

Our daughter, Kaylin, was just 5 years old when she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Instead of playing and just being a kid, she was facing hospital rooms, harsh treatments, and a fight no child should ever have to go through.

But Kaylin fought with a strength that still amazes us. She smiled through the hardest days and reminded everyone around her what real courage looks like.

Some of the brightest moments came from something simple we’ll never forget.

Happy Wheels would come to her hospital room with a cart full of books and toys, and Kaylin got to pick something out. In the middle of everything she was going through, that cart brought her real joy. For a moment, she got to just be a kid again.

We lost Kaylin later that year, and not a day goes by that we don’t miss her—her smile, her laugh, the light she brought into our lives.

This fundraiser through Happy Wheels is about continuing what brought Kaylin joy, helping other kids in hospital rooms get that same moment of happiness when they need it most.

If you’re able to give, thank you. If not, sharing Kaylin’s story means more than you know.

We couldn’t save Kaylin. But together, we can bring light into someone else’s darkest days.

One day, each week throughout the year, Happy Wheels volunteers make rounds to each inpatient room with a decorated surgical cart filled with brand new books and toys. Happy Wheels visits approximately 400 children weekly at all 3 children's hospitals in South Carolina. Each child gets to pick out one toy/book of their choice every week for the duration of their admission. They get to keep the gifts and take them home!
