20th Annual Run Against Domestic Violence

Every 9 seconds, a woman in the U.S. is beaten or assaulted by an intimate partner.

47.3% of women in the United States and 44.2% of men in the United States experience a form of abuse during their lifetime.

19.6% of women and 7.6% of men in the United States experience sexual violence.

In 2024, there were 59 domestic violence homicides in S.C.

Behind that statistic are real mothers, children, and neighbors who feel trapped, isolated, and afraid in their own homes. On Saturday, October 24th, I am running the Mayor’s 5K for Domestic Violence at Finlay Park to prove that they are not alone, and that our community will not look away.

I am dedicating my race to raising urgent funds for Sistercare. For survivors fleeing abuse, Sistercare is the life jacket. They provide emergency shelter, safety planning, and the counseling needed to heal from trauma and rebuild a life of peace.

I cannot run this race alone, and Sistercare cannot do this work without us. Your donation is more than just a financial gift; it is a direct investment in someone's safety, freedom, and survival. EVERY CONTRIBUTION MAKES A DIFFERENCE!

$1000 will provide food for domestic violence survivors and their children at one of our shelters for a month.

$500 will fund therapeutic supplies and materials for use with children at a Sistercare shelter.

$100 will assist a domestic violence survivor with a utility deposit to help them move into a new, safe residence.

$50 will purchase school supplies for a child who is residing in one of our emergency shelters.
