This association serves as the official alumni organization for graduates from the Class of 1950 to the present. It acts as a driving force for the school, its feeder cluster, and the broader community. The organization provides scholarships to graduating seniors of C. A. Johnson High School, supports school administration and staff, and serves as a resource for magnet programs whenever possible. In addition, it collaborates with community-based nonprofits to expand opportunities for students.

Our support extends beyond C. A. Johnson High School to include its feeder schools. The Alumni Association has provided financial contributions and resources to Watkins-Nance Elementary, Carver-Lyon Elementary, and W. A. Perry Middle Schools. These efforts include supplying school materials for dozens of students, hosting Teacher Appreciation initiatives, contributing to annual prom activities, supporting families in need over multiple years, and volunteering during Black History Month, among other initiatives.

We also assist with field trips, student engagement activities, and social events, while organizing food and clothing drives to support students facing hardships. While our primary focus remains C. A. Johnson High School, we are committed to supporting Watkins-Nance Elementary and Carver-Lyon Elementary Schools as well.

Our work includes assisting student-athletes with equipment and uniforms, sponsoring teacher appreciation events, and awarding scholarships to deserving seniors. Above all, we advocate for the needs of our schools and community to help ensure their long-term sustainability. We actively partner with organizations that share our commitment to educational excellence and community development. As the only historically African American high school in Richland School District One, we remain dedicated to protecting its legacy by addressing challenges that may impact its mission of providing excellence in education.

Testimonials

My name is Promise Scott of C. A. Johnson High School class of 2024. I am grateful to the C. A. Johnson Alumni Association for the scholarship awarded me in the amount of $1,000.00. I am currently attending Fayetteville State University. If it wasn't for the CAJ Alumni Association and their assistance with my tuition and other items that benefited me going to college I don't know what would be doing or how my parents would have financially provided for me to have such a wonder opportunity.
